Can we try a class?

Of course! We’d love to offer you a free trial class. You can easily request one online, or just get in touch with us, and our Customer Support Team will be happy to help!

Question 2

When can we start? Do we need to wait for the next term?

At Summersalt, we don’t follow school terms, which means you can get started at any time throughout the year! Our classes are popular, and if there’s no space right away, we’ll add you to our waitlist and let you know as soon as a spot opens up.

Question 3

What should they wear? Do we need to bring anything?

Accepted Answer

We spend as much time on our hands as on our feet, so we recommend wearing comfortable, moveable clothing like activewear - and no shoes or socks. When you enrol, you’ll get your very own Summersalt gymnast t-shirt for free! Don’t forget to bring a water bottle. If you’re already a gymnast, be sure to wear your grey or coloured Summersalt t-shirt to class for added safety!

Do we need to stay and watch?

Accepted Answer

If your child is school-aged, you don’t need to stay and watch the class. However, for safety reasons, please make sure they are dropped off and picked up from inside the centre. We have a viewing area available for those who wish to watch, or even catch up on work. We’d love to see you!

Question 5

What happens if we miss a class? Do we need to let you know?

We know life can get pretty busy! If you can’t make it to your regular class, just let us know at least three hours before it starts to receive a makeup token. Makeup tokens will be added to your account after the missed class once their coach has marked the rest of the roll. Tokens are valid for three months (90 days) from the date they’re issued.

What if my child has an allergy or medical condition?

All staff are trained in First Aid and CPR to ensure everyone’s safety. If your child has a severe allergy or needs medication while at Summersalt, please let our team know! We have a dedicated area for this, so our coaches can provide quick assistance whenever it’s needed.

How many children are in each class?

Below are the maximum class sizes we allow:
 • Preschool: 6:1 to 8:1
 • GymZone: 8:1
 • Ninja: 6:1
 • Squad: 10:1
We take pride in keeping our class sizes small to ensure every gymnast receives the attention and support they need during their time in the gym.

Question 8

How do I pay/how do you charge?

Our membership fees are processed via fortnightly direct debit. To enrol in any class, you’ll need to have your credit or debit card (Visa or Mastercard) saved on file. Fees are automatically debited on the second Thursday of each week, or the next business day if that falls on a public holiday. Please note that a 30-day written notice is required for any direct debit or membership cancellations.

Are my fees adjusted if we miss a class for a public holiday?

No. Your membership fee remains the same regardless of the number of classes in a fortnight. Fees are calculated on a yearly basis and then divided into fortnightly payments, which already account for varying weeks and holidays throughout the year.
Your membership doesn’t just cover classes - it also supports the ongoing costs of running our gym, including hiring permanent staff, providing specialised programming, and offering extra benefits like free t-shirts, make-up classes, and open or holiday play sessions. These extras are designed to help members continue their training and stay on track, even if they miss a class.

My child just passed a new coloured level. Do they need to move classes?

At Summersalt, we teach more than gymnastics! Our classes are thoughtfully designed to also meet your child’s developmental and social needs, ensuring they are continually engaged and challenged. So, when they achieve a new level, they will remain in their current class but will start learning a new set of skills on their journey towards achieving their next coloured t-shirt.

Why hasn’t my child passed a new level?

Each level typically takes between 6 to 12 months or even longer to complete, depending on the individual child. Our classes are designed to support each child's unique journey, recognising that children develop socially, emotionally, and physically at different rates, which can affect their progress in gymnastics.

Lower levels might be achieved more quickly, while higher levels take more time due to increased difficulty. Higher-level skills require greater flexibility, strength, and coordination.
